Lovely summer day

  2. I promise you they were the best broad bean I have ever had - no 'leather' skin on the bean and creamy taste - cooked in four minutes (ish). We actually ate them cold mixed in amongst salad leaves with good French dressing. They are 'Dreadnought'. Also, not a sign of aphid or black fly - no idea if this is to do with variety or location but it is a first for me.

  3. Ah, they're broad beans? I could've sworn they were French beans from the pic. Thanks for the tip, I'll try those next year.

  4. oops - would be useful if I identified stuff in posts - OK - young/small/first pick broad beans 'Dreadnought', ever-bearer strawberries probably 'Calypso', small/young red spring onion
